Re: Anyone going to the From the Jam gig in Clapham tonight?
Agree with that JONESY..... I won't be trotting up soon to see him... shame as when he first went solo and with teh Paul Weller Movement he was excellent... saw a great gig at the Subteranean in London in about 92... abso superb it was... he's a shadow of that now

Gloucester iron has it......

seen weller live 30 odd times, and was getting less and less impressed, then something like 4 years ago, saw an absolute dire show at the albert hall and decided enough was enough.

don't want to taint all the great shows I've seen by having more and more memories of shite ones.

I may go again one day, if he ever does some kind of greatest hits tour, but I doubt that will happen.

one of the stand out shows for me was the acoustic night at the albert hall for release of 'days of speed'.

pretty brave stuff, and a great show.

Re: Anyone going to the From the Jam gig in Clapham tonight?
was lucky enough to see The Jam over two dozen times back in the day, and have caught this lot plenty of times.

They're actually bowling up in Gloucester again next month, but I can't make the show this time.

As has been said, they do put on a cracking night out, so I'm sure that you'll love it. Ok, they'll be focusing on Sound Affects first, but they'll still trot out the other tunes that everyone wants to hear.

As for Weller, I've seen him solo now more times than I saw him with The Jam, but to be honest, I rarely get too excited about his shows these days. I went to the Hyde Park show with Marr and The Who, and it was fucking awful, to be honest.

I've always found his albums a bit hit and miss, but don't think his recent efforts since 22 Dreams, which I fucking love btw, have actually been much cop, especially the last one from earlier this year which to me at least, is as dull as fucking dishwater.

That said, we're off to the show in Manchester next month, so it's good to hear that the set list appears to be a little more diverse.

I don't expect him to bung in loads of Jam tracks, just to shake it up a bit and choose well from a fucking strong back catalogue...

One last tip Woody, son.

Ben fucking Sherman? I expected better from you than wearing that bollocks - have a word and get some decent shirts - if you're in the know, you'll know where to go!

Gary... maybe he read the feedback of the gigs he done back in March when he played his whole fucking new album from start to finish... Style Council Songs = 0 The Jam songs = 0... only time I saw the crowd get remotely interested was Changing man and From the Clouds... otherwise it was as lousy a gig I have been to...

Re: Anyone going to the From the Jam gig in Clapham tonight?
I will be going to see Weller at Hammersmith 4th/5th December... on his handful of USA gigs last week he was playing six Jam songs per show, which is a lot for him !
(corner shop, boy about town, start, in the crowd, thats entertainment, malice)

Re: Anyone going to the From the Jam gig in Clapham tonight?
Buckler is not in it anymore.... to be honest I think Stu Hastings is more Weller/Jam than if Weller actually came back and done it now... saw Weller last March and he was POOR... Seen From the Jam about 10 times and every gig has been a BIF-BAM-POWWWWW

As far as I know the two guiltiest are the same but Weller no longer sings. So some bloke does who looks the same.

All the old classics will be sung.
